Notes
Doris Helena, only daughter of Daniel and Kate Gregg, left Childers and engaged in nursing training at the Gippsland Hospital, Sale. Later, she nursed at Sister Ruby Shugg's Private Hospital in Warragul.
Doris married Clifford Royden Shugg. Together, they engaged in fanning in various parts of South Gippsland. At one period, they conducted a fruit and mixed business in Korumburra, returning to farming at Hoddle, near Foster, and finally at Pakenham. Everywhere Doris lived, she was actively associated with the Methodist Church. She loved music, and throughout her life, many church choirs were blessed with her rich contralto voice. Her husband Roy, was a champion rifle shot and at one time won the King's Prize, a highly coveted honour.
Doris Helena Shugg (nee Gregg) died in a Melbourne hospital at the age of 56 years.
